DIALOGUE PRESSING ROOM

‘Dialogue Pressing Room’ is a participatory event work, held at Pao Galleries in Hong Kong, where Carolyn Eskdale has invited women to take part in six private conversations whilst engaging in the act of pressing plasticine across a shared plate at a table. Each pressing becomes a unique, tactile manifestation of the women’s conversation and relationship in time.

Adjusted studio timber partitions, adjusted studio table and chairs, stainless steel plate, pressed plasticine, acrylic cover.

DIALOGUE PASSAGE PRESSING

‘Dialogue Passage Pressing’ is a participatory work, held at Pao Galleries in Hong Kong, where Carolyn Eskdale has invited teams of art students to complete an intervention work upon the gallery spaces and walls. Working in small groups over a few days, participants layered a new tactile surface of pliable plasticine over exisiting walls, ceilings and doorways by pressing with fingers and thumbs. The manifestation of the students’ coordinated actions becomes a heightened temporary reflection on viewers’ perception of space and adjusted architectures in time.

In-situ architectural intervention, pressed plasticine.
